To make it easier to start up new companies, the canton of Vaud has set up a major free programme of assistance and support.

The business promotion staff and services are on hand to provide everything that a company might need to set up shop and expand in the canton of Vaud.

They can provide assistance with the following:

• work and residence permits
• contacts with financial institutions and venture capital firms
• tax breaks
• research and development subsidies
• help with investment and technical training
• establishing financial and commercial partnerships
• identification of business premises, land, science and technology parks
• essential commercial and social contacts, access to networks
• identification of accommodation, schools, services, transport, health care
• negotiations with the state, be it at federal, cantonal or municipal level
• exports, notably through a risk guarantee that protects the interests of the exporting company

In addition, the canton authorities can offer loans backed by the canton or cover for bank interest, subsidies for staff training or continuing professional development and for company expansion projects.
