The canton of Vaud is very concerned about the quality of the environment and sustainable development, and encourages the greatest possible use of clean energy. The city of Lausanne has signed up to the UN's Agenda 21 initiative for sustainable development.

For private individuals, utilities (electricity, gas, water) are supplied by registering for the industrial services in the municipality where you live. You can also ask landlord or estate agency to provide you with information. If you rent an apartment, the landlord will invoice you the cost of power and water.
