Sauvage
From 18 Apr To 14 Jun 2026SAUVAGES de Laurence Kubski
Monitored, controlled, spied upon, counted, hunted or protected, wildlife is subject to human constraints.
Over the course of a year, Laurence Kubski documented the interactions that shape the coexistence of humans and wild animals within the clearly defined geographical and cultural area of the canton of Fribourg.
Throughout the seasons, the photographer followed the capture of bats near caves for census purposes, the ringing of birds during their migration, and drone flights over meadows on mowing days to locate fawns hidden by their mothers… She weaves into this investigation her own childhood memories of the Fribourg countryside.
SAUVAGES explores local practices whilst adopting a broader perspective; the region serving as a representative sample of contemporary Western culture. By blending documentary images with staged scenes, the photographer asks: does the wild still exist?
