Itinerary Avenches Région

An easy route to enjoy Lake Murten, the Roman heritage of Avenches and the natural areas of La Sauge. Ideal for families, couples and travellers looking for a peaceful break with simple waterside activities.    

MORNING – Aventicum Roman site and museum

Start with the Roman site at Avenches. The amphitheatre, thermal baths and ruins are easy to explore on foot. The museum rounds off the visit nicely and provides the historical context of the ancient Roman capital.

Around twenty signposted routes of varying difficulty take cyclists through a myriad of landscapes: from tranquil lakes to the most challenging mountain passes, via the countryside and vineyards. The gravel bike, a versatile hybrid of road and mountain bike, is perfect for exploring the Vaud region by bike. To make these adventures accessible to everyone, most sports shops in the region offer all types of bikes and e-bikes for hire.
