Swiss National Museum - Château de Prangins
From 01 Jan To 31 Dec 2025The Swiss National Museum presents Switzerland from 1730 to 1920, exhibited at the castle of Prangins, an exceptional site above Lake Geneva.
Several permanent exhibitions are a journey to the Age of Enlightenment: "Noblesse oblige! La vie de château au 18e siècle", featuring the daily life of a noble family from the Pays de Vaud, the "Potager" - a real open-air exhibition - or the exhibition "Indiennes: un tissu à la conquête du monde" on the fascinating history of printed cotton fabrics. The game exhibition "Ready to go" invites young and old to continue the journey with the means of transport from the 18th to the 20th century. "Switzerland. What is it?" questions Swiss myths and clichés and confronts them with the daily life of the population, from the 18th century to the present day. The temporary exhibitions highlight topics related to Swiss culture and current affairs. The Swiss National Museum continues outside, with the educational trail "The Walk of Light".
To make the immersion complete, the Café du Château also offers a refined menu inspired by the old-fashioned vegetable garden or picnic baskets for a lunch on the grass! For private or professional events and birthdays, the Château de Prangins offers three rooms with an undeniable cachet, as well as the Café and its sumptuous terrace facing Lake Geneva. Throughout the year, numerous activities and guided tours, designed for groups and families, give visitors a unique experience: going back in time!
