Domaine de La Lance

The old Chartreuse de La Lance contains a cloister which has remained intact since the 14th century. It’s a historical monument and a wine estate.

La Lance was founded by Othon of Grandson in 1317. Throughout its history, this community consisted of between 4 and 6 monks. At the Reformation, in 1538, when Concise chose to become Protestant, the friars were expelled and the chartreuse was sold to Jacques Tribolet, castellan of Berne and Fribourg, whose family kept the property for over 200 years. It has always remained in private hands.

The small Gothic cloister is intact, as well as the portal of the church. These days, a number of rooms in the historical part of the building are for rent.

The estate’s first vines were planted by the monks, who traditionally cultivated them for the wine at mass. After numerous modifications over the centuries, the current cultivated area covers 8 hectares.

The Domaine de la Lance is known for its wine tasting and aperitifs combined with a guided tour, by appointment, from Monday to Saturday. A magnificent vaulted hall, adjacent to the cloister, is available for organising seminars, cocktails and meals served by caterers.
