Funicular Les Avants - Sonloup

A historic funicular connecting Les Avants to Sonloup, the starting point for hikes and the toboggan run in winter.

In the 20th century, the Les Avants region was renowned as a winter resort. Even today, the Les Avants–Sonloup funicular remains a unique way to gain elevation. Built in 1910, it travels the 500 meters separating the two stations through an idyllic landscape on the heights of Montreux.

In the summer, Sonloup serves as the starting point for several hiking trails, and in May, the surrounding meadows are adorned with daffodils. In winter, the funicular provides access to the famous toboggan run. Its historic red cars, preserved through renovations, add to the charm and uniqueness of this line, which is over a century old.
