Gâteau de Goumoens
The village of Goumoens, in the Vaudois countryside, is proud of its sweet speciality, also called “taillé”.
Near Echallens, between Lausanne and Yverdon-les-Bains, Goumoens is attached to its traditions, including a local delicacy called Gâteau or Taillé de Goumoens. This sweet treat comes in the form of a big cake to share, made of sugar, milk, flour, butter and eggs. You might find the recipe in a book or on a website but nothing can take the place of the skill passed down from generation to generation.Every two years, Goumoens has a festival dedicated to its typical dessert. For two days, artisans sell and demonstrate how the cake is made, along with artistic, musical and kids’ events and other specialities to enjoy.
