The Payerne Museum houses the permanent collections of General Jomini, Napoleon’s soothsayer, and the painter Aimée Rapin.

Since 1969, the Payerne Museum has been organising prestigious art exhibitions like Utrillo and the Montmartre Painters, Manessier, Le Corbusier, the Toms Collection of Tapestries from the 16th to 18th century, Hans Erni or Pietro Sarto.

The museum has nine rooms, five of which are given over to several temporary exhibitions organised throughout the year. The museum also dedicates a large space to regional artists.

Opened to the public in 1870, the museum originally included various collections of animals and historical objects related to Payerne. In 1987, a fire destroyed a large part of the museum’s various collections. Since then, the museum has become known throughout the country as one of the top cultural venues hosting major exhibitions.
