Easy to learn, snow-shoeing is accessible to anyone wanting to enjoy the delights of the snow. Equipment can be rented at all sports shops and is quick and easy to use. Once kitted out, hikers of all abilities can head off into the most natural and unspoilt winter landscapes.

In the Lake Geneva Region, the alpine resorts (Aigle-Leysin-Col des Mosses, Château-d’Oex-Rougemont and Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets) have groomed and marked trails of varying difficulties. Those who want more of an athletic challenge rather than a gentle walk can hire mountain guides to accompany them on the best trails. With their gentle slopes and feel of the Great North, the resorts of the Vaudois Jura (Saint-Cergue, Sainte-Croix / Les Rasses and Vallée de Joux) are popular with winter hikers who appreciate the well-groomed routes and the welcoming alpine meadow chalets where they can enjoy traditional cheese fondues.
