Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL)

The EPFL is an institution at the cutting edge of training, research and innovation.

The EPFL (Lausanne Federal Institute of Technology) was founded in 1969 and offers today 13 complete courses of study, from bachelor to master. Its five faculties (computer and communication sciences, science and engineering, basic sciences, life sciences, natural and built environment) bring together nearly 12,000 students and researchers, as well as 1'400 PhD students. Nearly 120 nationalities are represented here. The EPFL promotes meetings between students, teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs, thus facilitating the emergence of new projects in the fields of science, technology and architecture. Good examples of this are the SwissTech Convention Center, inaugurated in 2014, which houses a 3'000-seater conference hall in an ultra-modern setting, the Alinghi yacht, the Solar Impulse solar aircraft and the Human Brain project, a study of how the brain works involving numerous European laboratories.Famous personalities have studied at EPFL, such as Robert Mardini, ICRC Director-General, as well as Mattia Binotto, Director of the F1 Scuderia Ferrari.
