The Independence Park

A haven of peace and tranquility in the centre of Morges with a magnificent view over Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont-Blanc.

Views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont-Blanc create an enchanting backdrop for one of the most famous parks in the Lake Geneva Region. The Independence Park is an oasis in the centre of Morges, an ideal natural environment for family walks, with more than 50 species of trees, including horse chestnuts trees planted in 1750. In the spring, the park hosts to one of the most famous floral displays of the region during the Tulip Festival. This tranquil backdrop is brought to life with the colour of over 100,000 flowers, special events and entertainment.

Besides being a blooming garden in the spring, the Independence Park commemorates an important event in the region’s history. On 24 January 1898, locals celebrated the 100 year anniversary of their independence wrested from the Bernese and this is when the famous Morges gardens took the name of Independence Park.
