Rougemont on foot

“We want to diversify the activities we offer by promoting alternative pastimes to skiing and snowshoeing”, emphasises Cindy Morier, the head of the Rougemont office for Pays-d’Enhaut Tourisme. And we are already achieving results as, from this season onwards, five winter trails will be available to visitors wishing to discover the Commune on foot. The trails are freely accessible and walkable in all weathers, as long as there is sufficient snowfall. They are groomed the morning after snowfalls to make walking easier. They all traverse incredible landscapes and are very atmospheric. Most of them can be accessed from the village of Rougemont and they are of varying lengths, taking between 20 minutes and around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Among the villages, forests and pastures

Known as the “Castle Loop”, this trail can be walked at night as it is lit by Christmas lights. During the daytime you can enjoy a half-hour sunlit walk with views over Rougemont castle and the entire valley towards Château-d’Oex. The trail also follows the cross-country ski track. Also starting in Rougemont, this route provides you with a change of scenery and atmosphere. It takes walkers along the banks of the Sarine to Saanen, along a forested path. The return trip takes around three hours. We recommend you take hiking sticks. Lastly, those looking to gain some height will find 2 trails through alpine pastures at the heart of the Manche valley. Admire the outstanding views to the summits of the Rubli and Rocher des Rayes, so characteristic of Rougemont.
