Basketry Exhibition at the Arboretum

Basketry Exhibition at the Arboretum

From 28 May To 02 Nov 2026

At the Wood Museum, you can explore the connections that willows have had with human societies for thousands of years.

This journey begins with a plant that is both delicate and common: the willow. As we follow its slender, supple branches, we invite you to discover its cultivation, its transformation into wicker, and the many techniques of weaving and basketry.

The exhibition also spotlights artisans in Switzerland today who are keeping these practices alive and evolving them, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary creation.

This temporary exhibition invites you to reconnect with an art form that creates a lasting bond between humans and plants, whether by admiring the work of basket weavers or by trying your hand at it yourself.
