Alimentarium
From 01 Oct 2025 To 30 Sep 2026A delightful mix of exhibitions, activities, and workshops.
Opened on June 21, 1985, in Vevey, the Alimentarium is the world's first museum entirely dedicated to food. Founded under the impetus of museologist Martin Schärer, it marked a break with the international museum landscape by integrating everyday objects, sensory experiences, and critical questions into an innovative and participatory approach. The most famous piece in its collection is the “Fork. Heroine of Lake Geneva,” created by artist Jean-Pierre Zaugg to mark the institution's tenth anniversary. It offers a rich and varied program of exhibitions, culinary workshops, guided tours, meetings, and cultural mediation around past, present, and future food issues.
