On the track of Tintin in Nyon
Tintin, the comic book character, is in Nyon investigating the “Calculus Affair”.
In the “Calculus Affair”, Tintin, the comic book detective created by Hergé, has come to Nyon in search of Professor Calculus; it is possible to identify the different places in Nyon for example the way into Nyon on the Route Suisse, Professor’s Topolino house on Route de St-Cergue, the fire truck, the lake shore or the "Maître Jacques" fountain. The character of Professor Calculus was inspired by Auguste Piccard, explorer of the abyss and the stratosphere, who has two fascinating rooms dedicated to him at the Musée du Léman in Nyon.
Published in 1956, the “Calculus Affair” shows Hergé’s meticulous work in identifying the site. In 2007, to mark the centenary of his birth, a tri-lingual leaflet was published describing this route on the trail of Tintin, not only in Nyon but also Geneva, Rolle and Yvoire.
