Refuge de Frience
From 13 Dec 2025 To 01 Feb 2026The Refuge de Frience is nestled in the Alpes Vaudoises between Villars and Gryon.
Situated on a panoramic plateau in the heart of Alpes des Chaux, only a few minutes from Villars and the centre of Gryon, the Refuge de Frience has been an institution for over 50 years. It has always been a favourite for families, hikers and visitors wishing to relax or enjoy a meal on the fabulous terrace or inside around the large fireplace.
The Refuge de Frience offers a wide range of seasonal menu items as well as traditional Swiss dishes such as cheese crust, open wood-fire raclette and fondue moitié-moitié or with 100% Vacherin.
Practical informations
Access by bus
- By bus in season : shuttle Gryon - Alpe des Chaux
Access by car
- By car from Barboleuse - 2 car parks (free in summer / paying in winter) are located nearby : La Golèze and Frience.
Other access
- By cable car from Barboleuse to Les Chaux, then a 3 km hiking trail to Frience.
Opening hours
- During holiday periods, the kitchen is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Le Refuge is open in the afternoon for drinks and light refreshments.
