Wine tourism in the Canton of Vaud
Wine, the star of the land of Vaud
From Lake Geneva to the shores of the lakes of Neuchâtel and Morat, the Canton of Vaud features an art of living characterised by vineyards, conviviality, and gastronomy. Playing home to its king grape, Chasselas, the Canton boasts six wine regions – La Côte, Lavaux, Chablais, Bonvillars, Les Côtes de l’Orbe and Vully – and eight designations of controlled origin (AOC) that testify to its rich wine-growing tradition. There are plenty of wine touristic experiences to be had in the region’s spectacular landscapes, authentic villages, and welcoming wine estates: wine tasting, vineyard walks, encounters with winemakers, and gourmet breaks. A territory to enjoy and discover throughout the seasons.

Located near the lake, the La Côte vineyards offer lovely panoramas and fine wines. Perfect for an authentic gourmet break in the heart of the Vaudois terroir.
Classified by UNESCO, the amazing Lavaux terraced vineyards rise above Lake Geneva. A spectacular setting to enjoy exceptional wines with the sky, the lake and the mountains as a backdrop.
Set between the Alps and Lake Geneva, the Chablais region grows hearty and generous wines in a unique Alpine setting. A region full of contrasts, perfect for people in search of authenticity.
As the oldest wine region in the land of Vaud. les Côtes de l’Orbe feature expressive reds in a bucolic setting. A distinctive destination showcasing grasslands, vineyards, and typical villages.
Undulating above Lake Neuchâtel, the charming Bonvillars vineyards offer welcoming cellars. A discreet little gem for fans of character wines and authentic nature.
The mountain of the same name rises between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Morat. The nearly bilingual AOC wine region on the hillside lies between the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg.

Our partners
Vaud Œnotourisme
As precursor of wine tourism in Switzerland, the Canton of Vaud launched the Vaud Wine Tourism network in 2014. Its objectives: to define the quality standards for wine tourism services but, above all, to identify wine tasting venues combined with encountering the producers and discovering the region.
Created in 2018, the Association Vaud Œnotourisme (AVOE) brings together the players in the field of wine, gastronomy, and hospitality around a common ambition: to enhance the Vaudois terroir through authentic, high-quality experiences. Recognised by the State of Vaud, the association promotes the development of wine tourism at local, regional and national levels by encouraging synergies between the various sectors of activity.
Being a member of AVOE offers many advantages: increased visibility via official promotion channels, access to specialised training, participation in network events, and the opportunity to enjoy preferential rates on certain local products. It also means joining a dynamic community that is committed to wine-making excellence and to contributing actively to the attractiveness of the Canton of Vaud.
