Temporary exhibition at the Musée Bolle in Morges

This exhibition, presented by the Bolle Foundation and its museum, highlights the youth of Ella Maillart (1903-1997), most of which was spent on Lake Geneva. These years of sailing were, as she herself would say, a perfect introduction to her future travels and an opportunity to prepare herself to take on the world.

It's about Lake Geneva, but also about the remarkable exploits of the sailor who took part in numerous regattas from the age of fourteen.
Photographs, albums, plans, personal memories - a whole part of Ella Maillart's little-known life is revealed here.

Her participation in the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, making her "the first woman in the world to helm a sailboat in an Olympic competition", is also on display.
in the world to helm a sailing boat in an Olympic competition".
Finally, her life as a great traveller is also retraced through a selection of previously unpublished images of her journeys.

This project is inspired by Carinne Bertola's book "Ella Maillart, navigatrice", published for the occasion by Glénat.
